More Theatrical Musings

Hello my friends!

I hope you are all doing well and being theatrical and stunning aka being yourselves!

I missed you every moment that I was away from you, but thank the theatre muses, here I am.

I have returned.

The past several weeks have been terrifyingly busy. Who decides to take six college classes while they’re still in high school and do two plays and a musical at the same time?

Erm, moi, apparently.

Why would I do such a thing?

College has been going pretty well. I get rawther tired at times and it makes me a bit snappy so then I have to glare at people around me. Glaring is an art.

Sometimes I have to lower my eyelids cooly at my English professor who talks endlessly about World War One. I am sorry, but is there a well-known, enjoyable, somewhat critically-acclaimed musical/play about World War One?

I think not.

There is a reason for that.

On the marvelous side of things, I have convinced the college to let me mount my fabulous musical, Lavender Nicholson Is Not Okay in their theater. Am I an utter and complete genius? I think yes. I will fill you in on everything that occurs, because I think it’s going to be rather an event.

I had my first table-read this morning and it went really well. The thing is, whenever I first start directing actors and I don’t know them terribly well, I get sort of tense and I think I come across as being slightly strained and flustered. This is never the intention. I really love my actors and I can’t wait to work with them, but there is always a hint of doubt in the back of my mind that I, Broadway Little, know what I am doing at all, a fear that I am simply a Lillian Hellman-obsessed fraud with a set of glittery champagne flutes.

But I know that this is not true.

Broadway seems to be swinging, and I want to know what’s new! I haven’t been keeping up on all of the new shows, but I recently watched a video of a new song from Frozen, which I thought was absolutely lovely. I hope I get to see Frozen, it seems like it’s going to be great.

Friends, I have to chop off now, but I’m so happy that I got a chance to write; what new musicals have you been enjoying? I need recommendations desperately!

I love you all!

  1. I also want to see the stage show of Frozen.

I am in my last month of college. The main roadblock is Western Civilization.

I have not yet seen a musical live this year, but hope to. Lion King is coming to Charlotte in August this year and hope to see it, but individual tickets still aren’t on sale yet. I have been listening to Greatest Showman a couple of times.

      1. Western Civilization II at my school is annoying. I got stuck with a teacher who is like “if you fail one class you fail the class”, which is insane. I failed one so I am stuck with the final and a test the same day since I failed the first so he is allowing us to retake the one we failed but on the same day as the final

    1. Yes!! Thank you for mentioning that musical! I saw the film version and liked it but also sort of didn’t…not sure exactly how I feel about it. Have you seen it?
